Sore back from sit ups
I have a sore back from sit ups? What should I do?
To avoid getting a sore back from sit ups, place a soft cushion under your lower back. A sore back results from sit ups because the back pushes against the floor during the exercise. This causes damage to the muscles of the lower back.
When you place a soft cushion underneath your back, your back will push against the cushion and not against the hard floor. This will prevent your back from getting sore.
Additionally, remember not to place your hands behind your head while you perform sit ups. If you place your hands behind your head, then you will inadvertently pull your head with your hand. This can produce a sore neck and can cause damage to the vertebrae of your neck.
Instead, cross your arms across your chest or extend them in front of you. You can also place your fingers behind your ears while you perform sit ups.
