French fries cause cancer
Well, I knew french fries were bad for your heart since they contain loads of cholesterol, but cancer? Not in my wildest dreams.
According to studies, when you fry potatoes, a chemical known as acrylamide is produced. This chemical has been shown to cause cancer in rodents. Studies which will show the affect of this chemical on human health are being carried out.
And even though no information about acrylamide on human health is available as of yet, he mere thought that a substance with the potential of causing cancer is present in food, terrifies me.
The solution? Well, the simple solution is that you should stop eating french fires. Yes, I intentionally, wrote “fires” and not fries. Now they are the ones doing the frying.
But how can a french fry addict live without these delicious yellow strips of starch. Well, there is good news. Studies also show that if you first soak potatoes before frying them, reduced amount of acrylamide is produced.
So, I guess we will now have to soak and then fry potatoes since we don’t want to get fried.
